Testimonials
My school has a multi-linguistic, multi-ethnic, multi-racial population located in North Georgia. Over 65% of my teachers are native Japanese, 20 percent American born and 15% have other racial/ethnic backgrounds, so the racial discrimination and implicit bias on our campus is multi-layered and complex. We hired Hilary to deliver training on a number of topics, including classroom management, discipline and high achievement because our discipline data was unacceptable: The previous year's office referral data revealed 85% of office referrals were boys of color. After the classroom management training, we decreased student discipline referrals by over 70% in year two along with reducing boys of color office referrals by 40% after year one.
— Principal/Superintendent, international charter school
Ms. Beard used a very conversational approach and presented what can be considered an off-putting topic in a manner that created a lot of thought and dialogue. My entire staff took something away from the conversation and we plan on continuing exploration into the notion of implicit bias in education. Having our staff and families hear the same message will help strengthen the educational bond we need to support our children of all races, but particularly Black and Latino.
– Middle School CEO, charter school network
Brilliant stuff! I really have not been involved in an event that created such a lovely, productive and instant "buzz" on our campus.
– Head of School, Quaker independent school
I am always looking for ways to help our students succeed. Your research and insight helped restore my faith in our ability to make a difference. I am so disheartened by the direction our country is taking in so many areas. But I finally felt once again that I can move at least some things in the right direction. The concrete actions that will make a difference for the children (and adults) with whom I come into contact have given me hope.
– Middle School Librarian, suburban public school
The teachers found your presentation to be highly relevant to their work. They perceived the content as well-structured and easy to follow. They also indicated that your training was interactive and engaging and had a clear objective. During the presentation and afterwards our teachers expressed a lot of interest in the topic.
– Coordinator of Professional Development, private Catholic prep school
We've had some amazing visitors at this school, and you top my list. The faculty and administration are still buzzing.
– Dean of Students, independent upper school
Her content was very informative. I loved the way she expounded on every bit of information. I would love to see this event in a one-day bootcamp with morning and afternoon sessions. This would give her more time for Q&A.
– Parent of middle-school student
